About the Artist

Mary Selfridge is a Texan with both Native American and frontier roots.  Living in the panhandle of Texas she and her husband Bill spent many years in ranching and raising Quarter horses before entering the art field.  They reside and maintain Selfridge Gallery and her studio at Howardwick, Texas, overlooking Greenbelt Lake.

Mary has always loved to draw and paint the west.  She does extensive research before starting a painting.  Versatile in several medias, she prefers oils.  Self-taught, she has a distinct style.  She states "I am adding a feminine touch and feel to the west."  One can easily appreciate the love and passion Mary puts into each piece.  As you view the art a story emerges and you feel as though you were there.

The art of Mary Selfridge has appeared in various forms such as magazine covers, phone book covers, book covers and checks.   She has also had her paintings published in card and print forms.  Over 500 originals are in collections all over the world.  This includes foreign embassies, government offices, banks, corporations, celebrities and private collectors.
